If you're wondering how much you will be paying for Grand Theft Auto VI, you can finally stop wondering.
Rockstar announced today that pre-orders will open at midnight local time for everyone in the world on June 25th. How much will you be paying you ask? Good question, because I have the answer to this question too. There are two SKUs available on the PSN store (currently only available in New Zealand due to timezone differences). However, Rockstar has confirmed that the standard edition will launch at $79.99.
There's an Ultimate Edition as well (priced at $99.99) that comes with a bevy of unlockables that you can obtain during your playthrough of the game. These incentives include different hairstyles for both characters like a dirty mullet for Jason and nail and beauty upgrades for Lucia. There will be multiple cars such as the '95 Grotti Cheetah, a '90s version of the iconic Cheetah vehicle. Other items include a revolver that has distinct weapon skins like palm trees on the handle of the gun, and you can have many different personal variants of each gun as well.
Players will also be able to get exclusive items in the Mod Shop. Described by the Grand Theft Auto website: "Transform vanilla vehicles into magnificent works of art with detailed interiors, exquisite rims, and donk stylings. Only open for business with the Ultimate Edition." You can view the Ultimate Edition items on the Grand Theft Auto VI website.
All pre-orders (meaning both standard and Ultimate Edition) will come with a pre-order bonus called the Vintage Vice City Pack, which contains exotic styles from the Vice City you remember including very '80s aesthetic stylings like a Don Johnson style suit for Jason and a red sequin dress and hair curls for Lucia. Very chic for the time when we played as Tommy Vercetti. Speaking of Tommy Vercetti, don't think we won't be getting anything to remember him by, as there is a skin inspired by the base outfit from the original Vice City and most guns will be able to use this skin.
So, if you're looking to spend your hard-earned (or stolen) money on GTAVI, you now have your answer. Personally, this falls in line with what I was expecting the price tag for the game would be priced. The Ultimate Edition, while still a steep price, is actually a bit cheaper than I expected, but given the fact that there is no true physical Collector's Edition of the game, I feel this is an adequate price for the title and lines up with standard industry pricing for the most part. There is a rumor of a Collector's Edition that will go for $230, but I have not seen this confirmed anywhere. A far cry from the $100 that people thought that the Standard Edition would go for, which I never thought would be the case to begin with. But, internet speculation always goes wild, doesn't it?
