So, who's Ultima?

Hi, I'm Ultima. I stream JRPGs, which is a fancy way of saying I've spent 80 hours in a menu and called it content.

Before Twitch, I was on the other side of the curtain: games journalist, community manager, the whole circus. IGN, Square Enix, a handful of indie studios you've never heard of (the games industry calls this "a stable career path"). I've written the press releases, survived the launch days, and moderated Discords that should have come with hazard pay. So when a publisher says a delay is "in service of the player experience," I can translate that for you.

Now I just play the games and say what I actually think. There's nobody left to ask me to "soften the tone." The rotation: Final Fantasy, Persona, Zelda, Metal Gear, GTA, and Sonic. Yes, Sonic. I know. I don't want to hear it.

For all the snark, I want ULTIMABASS to be a positive force in this industry. Outrage is easy money right now, and I'm not interested. When a game launches broken, the question isn't "how bad is it," it's who decided to ship it that way and why. I'll chase that answer every time, and when a studio earns a win, I'll be just as loud about it. Honesty first. Everything else is clickbait.
