At long last I have launched my very own website dedicated to gaming.
It's been many years since the last time I had a blog and it's not a decision I made lightly. I've been debating for years to relaunch a blog, especially in light of many websites like X and Facebook turning into places where you can write long-form content. Then you have other places like Reddit where you can share your ideas, Digg, which had a beta period in which it was going to challenge Reddit into being a place to share ideas... Unfortunately, that didn't go so well. Of course, the biggest place I can think of right now that is popular for writing pieces is Substack. It's built on the premise that you can do a lot of long-form content, web essays, reviews, and even news.
But all of those never gave me the personal touch that a website can give. I'm in control of how things look and feel on here and I can go in and edit the site at anytime which gives me the Ultima(te) power.
Tacky jokes aside, I'm happy that I finally have my own site and even my own editor application. It's built in a way that I can make it easy for myself to edit any news article at the click of a button and format it using Markdown for very quick and easy posting.
With that out of the way, I wanted to give a brief preview of what this site will be about. In my opinion, I think games journalism in general is hurting. It's no longer about trying to get the most accurate news out to the masses, but instead, the industry uses headlines that tend to generate clicks for ad revenue. I also believe that journalism is far too heavy on using identity politics to gain traction and sites use that as a means to garner views. That is why this website will not include any of that. Just genuine news and an occasional opinion here and there. As I've said in the past, this is just a supplemental place for me to jot down opinions and news, when I don't necessarily want to do a video about it. Sometimes it's fun to just write it out and it's something that I actually haven't done in a long, long time.
I'm happy to finally launch this website now. The website is a side project as I continue to look for new work after my contract expired back in December. Job hunting has been a pain in the ass, with multiple interviews leading to rejection after rejection. While I'm not here to bitch about the job market, I can't help but feel discouraged about it all. However, I will continue to press on and find work and have a positive attitude about it. Mostly because, there's plenty of negativity out there and it's not going to do me any good by adding to that.
Anyway, enough rambling for now. Thank you for coming into my space and checking out my website. I would love to hear any feedback you have regarding it and even what you would like to see. I have been thinking about doing a Patreon to help fund things, but that's something that I will really need to do some research on and also provide more content, so even if I went that route, it wouldn't be until content becomes more regular.
Be sure to follow me on socials like X, Bluesky, and Threads. You can also subscribe to on YouTube and Twitch. Thanks for reading (and following if you did!) and I will see you around. Enjoy the site.
